Registration notes: A tartan for the Hudson Highlands Pipe band, based in New York, United States. The design is intended to capture the beauty and history of the Hudson Highlands. It was inspired by an aerial view of the Hudson River and mountains on the east and west bank, most notably Storm King Mountain and Breakneck Ridge. Colours: blue is intended to represent the river as the centre of the sett; green was derived from the moss, lichens, and forests on the mountain slopes; red represents rust, from both the local iron mining and foundry industries that were essential to the region's Industrial Revolution history; white is intended to represent the rail lines that connect the region and its people and grey is for the Band’s connection to their local Military Academy.
