Registration notes: A tartan for Francis Collier, designed by his grandson. It was inspired by the Robertson tartan by Wilsons of Bannockburn, included in their 1819 Key Pattern Book (SRT #3527), as the Colliers are a sept of Clan Robertson. The colours are intended to represent the link between the family and coal mining: black for coal; grey for rock; brown for earth; red is intended to represent the blood spent doing the work and yellow is for the wealth gained from it.
