Registration notes: Sample notes say Plain weave design by Gardiners, December 1975. Since it was created by Gardiners for the Bi Centenary of Walter Scott's birth (1771) that date ought to read 1971. It was created at the same time as #57 (original Scottish Tartans Authority reference). The sett shown here described by the Scottish Tartans Society entry #1241 as being Ingles Buchan sample strips. The registration criteria now applied by the Register conforms to the Scottish Register of Tartans Act 2008. These criteria are different to those previously applied by either the STA or the STWR. You may wish to refer to the STA website for further information on the original recording of this tartan.
