Registration notes: In 1975 Major John Henry Stuart Borthwick (Lord Borthwick in 1986) asked Lochcarron to design a dress version of Borthwick, recorded in Lord Lyon Court Books (LCB47) on 10th September 1984. Count as for BORTHWICK but white substituted for the grey. Lochcarron notes say designed in 1984. In the Lochcarron swatch the white is actually light grey. The threadcount recorded in the Register matches that recorded in the Lyon Court Books as the Borthwick Dress tartan.

The new SRT reference number can be found in the address box on your browser (url).

The registration criteria now applied by the Register conforms to the Scottish Register of Tartans Act 2008. These criteria are different to those previously applied by either the STA or the STWR. You may wish to refer to the STA website for further information on the original recording of this tartan.
