Registration notes:	Details of this tartan were taken from photographs of a christening dress for George Robert Hewett, born 1882 in the United States. The design resembles the Caledonia tartan [#455], a Wilsons of Bannockburn pattern design from the early 19th century, a popular designs which was the source of a number of later tartans by Wilsons and other firms. The owner has no idea if the cloth was brought from Scotland by George's grandfather in the 1820's or purchased in the USA at a later date. The material had been passed down as the Hewett family tartan but there is no evidence to support this.
