Registration notes: The colours chosen for this tartan are intended to represent the history of the Veitch surname which was first recorded in Berwickshire when Randolph Veitch witnessed a charter by Henry de Graham c.1200; red and grey represent the Aberdeenshire granite of Darwyk House, first built by the Veitch family; green represents the Dawyck arboretum and botanical gardens; blue represents the River Tweed and the Scrape burn which runs through the gardens; yellow and white represent the yellow Winter Aconites and white Snowdrops which carpet the banks of the Scarpe burn in springtime.
