Registration notes: This is said to be one of the oldest of the tartans produced by Wilsons of Bannockburn, mentioned in an order in June 1794. They apparently produced it during the days of prohibition (1746-1782). This is from the threadcount documented in Jamie Scarlett MBE's 'Tartan the Highland Textile' (1990). He took the count from a manuscript account book in the National Museum of Scotland, Edinburgh.

The new SRT reference number can be found in the address box on your browser (url).

The registration criteria now applied by the Register conforms to the Scottish Register of Tartans Act 2008. These criteria are different to those previously applied by either the STA or the STWR. You may wish to refer to the STA website for further information on the original recording of this tartan.
