Registration notes: This tartan was presented to Captain General of the Order of Vitéz, Archduke Joseph Karl, Royal Prince of Hungary, Hereditary Palatine of Hungary by Sheriff George Way of Plean, OStJ, Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts etc., in recognition of the humanitarian activities of the Order of Vitéz (Vitézi Rend), and in commemoration of the forthcoming 100th Anniversary of the Order which was founded 20 August 1920 in the Kingdom of Hungary as an noble analog to a hereditary knighthood. The Order of Vitéz now is a dynastic order of knighthood belonging to the Hungarian Palatine line of the House of Habsburg-Lothringen and the Order’s first member, Archduke Joseph August of Austria, Royal Prince of Hungary, Palatine of Hungary (1872-1962), was the great-grandfather of the present Captain General. The design incorporates the colours of the insignia of the Order and includes the red, white and green of Hungary’s national flag. The black band to the left of the flag has 19 threads, the block to the right has 20 - commemorating 1920, the foundation of the Order of Vitéz. The large blue blocks have 100 threads to mark the 2020 centenary of the Order.
