Registration notes: La Ville de Sainte-Julie is located on the South Shore of Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Founded in 1851, the Parish of Sainte Julie retained its agricultural character until the mid-1960’s, and became a city in 1971. Since then, it has grown substantially, both in terms of population and urban development. Colours: green represents the abundance of local vegetation, trees, and parks; purple represents the blue iris, the floral emblem of the city; grey reflects the city’s urban growth and strong foundations; yellow represents fertile agricultural lands, joy of living, and generosity and white embodies all local families, native or new, as well as future generations. The tartan is a mirror of the social fabric and distinctive character of this community.
Woven Sample: A woven sample of this tartan has been received by the Scottish Register of Tartans for permanent preservation in the National Records of Scotland.
