Registration notes:	A tartan to represent the settlements along the Saint Lawrence river, known as the "Lost Villages". The elements of the tartan represent aspects of life in the six villages and three hamlets that were moved before the flooding to the newly created Seaway Towns of Ingleside and Long Sault. In 1958 the construction of the Moses Saunders Dam at Cornwall was completed, the coffer dams were dismantled and the inundation of the former villages began. The blue represents the Saint Lawrence river; the green stripes represent the forests and fields along the Saint Lawrence; the white represents the foaming rapids of the Long Sault; the charcoal represents the rocks and boulders over and around which the Saint Lawrence boiled in the rapids; the green stripes at their intersection form nine squares which represent the nine settlements which were inundated.

Woven Sample:	A woven sample of this tartan has been received by the Scottish Register of Tartans for permanent preservation in the National Records of Scotland.
