Registration notes: A personal tartan for Thomas and Alexander Joyce, who moved to Colonial, Cub Creek, Virginia from County Down, Ireland. Thomas and Alexander Joyce are the grandsons of William Joass and Beatrix Fraser from Banff, Scotland. Colours: green represents the birth place of Thomas and Alexander in County Down; white represents the hope they found in the new world; black represents the struggles their ancestors experienced in County Down; dark brown represents their occupation as farmers; dark blue represents their Joass origins in Scotland.
Woven Sample: A woven sample of this tartan has been received by the Scottish Register of Tartans for permanent preservation in the National Records of Scotland.
