Registration notes: The tartan was designed to recognise the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the formation of the Werris creek Catholic parish 1918-2018 and the beginning of a new era by parishioners in their faith journey. The sett reflects the spirit of Catholic faith by using the liturgical colours of white, red, green and purple, with blue for the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of all and the waters of Baptism. Yellow (gold) represents the Papal colour and treasures of the Catholic faith. The block of green enclosing yellow and purple and bordered by blue represents the agricultural district of Werris creek and the spiritual formation through suffering and love, of the past 100 years. As life's journey continues into the new era, guided by the Holy Spirit of Peace, we seek to be strengthened and nourished by the real living presence of Jesus in the Holy Eucharist and His Redemptive Blood, represented by the White centre Red Cross, this red white red cross (three) also represents the Holy Trinity One God. The White block is bordered by Blue reminding us of the Maternal Love and intercession of Our Heavenly Mother, hence, honouring Her as Mary Mother of God.
Woven Sample: A woven sample of this tartan has been received by the Scottish Register of Tartans for permanent preservation in the National Records of Scotland.
