Reference: 11648
Designer: Barrett, David & Deidre
Tartan date: 12/12/2011
Registration date: 1 November 2016
Category: Corporate

Copyright: United States Customs and Border Protection, Office of Field Operations c/o Jonathan D. McElhaney Honor Guard Commander.

Registration notes: The US Customs and Border Protection (USCBP) Office of Field Operations (OFO) tartan is based on research performed by the OFO HGPD Commander on the history of CBP Field Operations and its legacy components. The first line of duty death for any of the three agencies occurred on August 3rd, 1808. Two US Customs Service Boatmen, Asa Marsh and Ellis Drake, were both shot and killed on duty in the same incident. The event is commonly referred to as “The Black Snake Affair”. The patterns of lines in the tartan are inspired by tartans associated with the Marsh and Drake family names, yet the tartan remains indigenous to the OFO, by using their current blue uniform as its main colour.
