Restrictions: Yes.
Registration notes: Although the original Edinburgh Tattoo tartan was created in 1982, it was principally for the use of Highland dancers performing in the tattoo and thus proved a little too lively for general use (Lochcarron info). Count changed slightly to match D.C. Dalgliesh weaving of 1982. Sample in Scottish Tartans Authority's Dalgety Collection. Design registered with Scottish Tartans Society, 1991 and Patented.

The registration criteria now applied by the Register conforms to the Scottish Register of Tartans Act 2008. These criteria are different to those previously applied by either the STA or the STWR. You may wish to refer to the STA website for further information on the original recording of this tartan.
